Liberty Seated Dollars, 1840-1873

The Liberty Seated Silver Dollar was minted from 1840 to 1873. The obverse is a modification from Gobrecht Dollar design. During early 1850s the silver content of these pieces was worth more than their face value, these were mainly used in export trade.
